Pioneer High-Speed Internet (HSI) is offered over Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) service, fiber optic lines and wirelessly. Pioneer currently uses Asymetrical Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) service for DSL offerings. ADSL is a broadband service allowing for high-speed data over copper telephone lines. Pioneer's HSI over fiber uses Passive Optical Network (PON) technology. The wireless HSI service is transmitted in either the 900Mhz unlicensed spectrum or 700Mhz licensed spectrum depending upon location and availability.

Pioneer Internet offers several plans with different download and upload speeds. The download speeds range from 128Kb/sec up to 20Mb/sec. The upload speeds range from 128Kb/sec to 768Kb/sec. Pioneer does offer Small Office/Home Office (SOHO) plans over DSL and fiber with upload speeds up to 1.5Mb/sec. Not all plans are available to all customers due to technology limitations. For example, DSL technology is limited by the length of the cable on which it runs. Therefore, customers closer to the equipment can generally be offered higher speeds than those customers miles away from the equipment.

Pioneer currently has a multi-gigabit backbone to the Internet. This backbone is spread across multiple providers and connections to protect against a single point of failure to the Internet. This large backbone is constantly monitored to ensure its reliability and capacity.

Pioneer customers can check their service speed at anytime by visiting http://speedtest.pldi.net. This speed test is hosted on a Pioneer server and will check the speed between the customer's computer and Pioneer's server.
